Performance Notes

Crescendo Operatic Society will present "Following a Star", a production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors”, a one-act opera by Gian Carlo Menotti; and “The Three Kings”, featuring uplifting carols sung with the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. This Christmas show is extremely family friendly and the perfect start to the season. Joy, wonder and love are the theme of the season if you choose to partake in this feast for the senses.

Crescendo Operatic Society brings beautiful music, traditional carols and the Christmas story to you, to complement your seasonal festivities. First, the singers will present Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, which is about a poor young shepherd boy who meets three royal travellers on their way to bring gifts to a prophetic infant. The boy’s name is Amahl, and he is just like any ordinary boy, except for being crippled since birth. He is somewhat naughty and curious about the gifts that the kings carry, but what he learns during their visit is of far greater worth than gold, frankincense and myrrh. Then, you will be uplifted with glorious carols that augment a reading of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, The Three Kings.
Following a Star will take you to this beautiful Christmas experience.

This is a general admission performance - the seats are on a first come, first serve basis when you arrive at the theatre.
